Giants Actually Let a 39-Year Old Get Away

Shocking, but true. Tim Worrell retired today after a 14-year career that ended with the Giants. The Giants are now, more than ever, standing behind closer Armando Benitez (which, to be fair, is not all that difficult given his girth).

I'll miss Worrell, but I'll miss his 7.52 ERA even more. Hopefully Benitez will fill that hole nicely.

Maybe the Rockies can sign him!

Worrell is taking the Bill Mueller Retirement Plan.

From ContraCostaTimes.com: "The Giants will place Worrell on the voluntary retired list; he will be paid his $2 million salary this year."

Not too shabby, not too shabby.
